 Nicholson Knife Tips

Nicholson tips use a precision machined boss or slot that fits exactly into a matching precision machined knife holder.

This eliminates tip looseness that occurs if an as-cast boss is used.

Loose fitting tips can quickly damage both the tip and the knife holder, resulting in increased maintenance costs and poor debarking.

Full contact between the back edge of the tip and the holder is critical in keeping the tip firmly in the knife holder.

Nicholson tips, with their precision machined mounting boss and special mounting surfaces, fit tightly at this important interface.

Nicholson tips feature special wide carbide inserts that help protect the tip casting from erosion and undercutting.

If narrower carbide inserts were used, the tip casting could wear more quickly in the area just ahead of the carbide, exposing the carbide itself to damage.

This wear can also make it impossible to reuse the tip casting.

Using precision fit Nicholson tips will eliminate unnecessary tip and knife holder replacement and will ensure high quality debarking.

Both one and two bolt tips are available.  Special multi-edged tips that can be indexed to extend debarking life are also available for some applications.
