Nicholson Tandem Ring Debarkers

All Nicholson A1, A6 A5B and A8 Debarkers can be supplied in a Tandem configuration (two rings in-line).

Nicholson Tandem Ring Debarkers are very versatile. They are generally used in situations that require higher feedspeeds, increased bark removal or special processing of the log.

Tandem debarkers can automatically process logs at higher feed speeds while providing improved bark removal and fiber protection. In high feedspeed applications, any bark left by the first ring is removed by the second. This faster and more complete debarking is the key to increased profitability for mills faced with smaller and smaller average log diameters.

For extra clean debarking the combination of two rings gives you better bark removal at higher feed speeds. The first ring removes the majority of the bark and the second ring gently cleans up any remaining. With this technique you can now process frozen logs, baked-on-bark, fire-killed logs, bug-killed logs and difficult species like balsam fir.

Tandem Ring Debarkers can also be equipped with the Patented Nicholson Stringy Bark Slitter Ring to process Cedar, Cypress, Redwood, Eucalypt and other stringy bark or 'problem' species at high feed speeds. The Slitter Ring cuts the bark strands into short lengths that are then easily removed by the following ring using standard tips and arms. These short lengths of bark are very easy to convey and hog.

The Nicholson Flared Butt Reducer Ring can be used in Tandem Debarkers to reduce the diameter of oversized log ends and flared butts so they can pass through a standard debarker ring.

The Flared Butt Reducer Ring is also used as a second ring to reduce logs to a maximum diameter that will flow smoothly through the rest of the mill.

Rings of different sizes can also be used in a single debarker where a wide range of log diameters is processed. As we said, Nicholson Tandem Ring Debarkers are very versatile!
