Patented Nicholson Stringy Bark Slitter Ring The Patented Nicholson Stringy Bark Slitter Ring lets you debark problem species like Redwood, Cedar and Eucalypt at high feed speeds without messy bark wrapping, jamming and system stoppages. The Slitter is generally used as the first ring in a tandem ring debarker. The ring cuts the bark in a helical pattern so a second standard debarking ring can remove the resulting short bark segments without jamming. These short bark segments are easier to convey and hog too, previously a big problem with most stringy bark species. The Slitter uses a standard Nicholson Air Seal Ring fitted with special knife arms that have small cutting discs on the ends. These discs are located with a single bolt and can be quickly removed and replaced. Many unsuccessful attempts to process stringy bark have been made in the past (some by us!).
