Nicholson Centering Infeed Conveyor Module The Nicholson Centering Infeed Conveyor is an auxiliary infeed device for fixed ring highspeed debarkers like the Nicholson A8 and A5B series.  The Centering Infeed Conveyor is used to provide additional fiber protection in highspeed applications, primarily when processing short logs.  The unit pre-centers and levels logs to the debarker’s exact centerline. Standard Centering units are designed for logs over 20 feet in length and are available in five sizes to match 12 to 35 inch debarkers. A special short log version for logs less than 20 feet in length is also available. A pivoting hold down roll connected to the conveyor trough by a mechanical linkage sets the position of the trough so the log is precisely centered on the debarker’s infeed for each specific log diameter. The leveling and centering process is fully automatic but the operator can manually control the conveyor if required. The Nicholson Centering Infeed Conveyor is heavily built and its reinforced conveyor trough has replaceable wear strips. A heavy-duty log containment tunnel has been incorporated into the main conveyor frame. A locking safety pin system has been provided to keep the conveyor from moving during inspections or maintenance. The unit uses an electric drive, gear reducer and roller chain final drive. The drive’s roller chain is automatically lubricated and connection points for automatic lubrication of the conveyor chain have also been provided.
