Nicholson A8:  Superior Reliability, Service Access and Safety One of the most important advances found on the A8 is its attention to features that provide superior reliability, excellent service access and a safe machine. The A8 is fully enclosed during operation. This gives you a clean, quiet and safe operating environment around the debarker.  Safety interlocks shut the debarker down immediately if any door is opened during operation. The A8 can also be fully opened for inspection and service.  The feedroll side of the debarker opens full height and width for complete access to the feedrolls.  Feedroll maintenance or removal is safe and easy, especially with the standard Fiberguard spikeless feedrolls.. On the gearside of the debarker, full height and width doors again give total access to the gear bays.  A large central door provides access to the center air cylinders, and each end cylinder has its own full height door. All of the air cylinders are mounted on the inside of the debarker to protect them from dirt and damage.  Eye level access to the cylinders makes them easy to inspect or service. Localized air systems for the infeed, outfeed and ring make it easy to adjust or inspect the systems.  These localized systems are also simpler and easier to understand. Generous access doors and panels for the ring and ring drive are provided.  Nicholson rings also have rugged and quickly removable knife arm pivot shaft modules (see cut-away to the left).  Lubrication for the Ring is automatic and the sysem will shut down the debarker if any problems occur. Grease lubrication is limited to four easy to access points on the outside of the debarker. Lubrication can be performed during normal operation. The A8 is easy to live with, and hard to live without!
