A6 Debarker Features
The Nicholson A6
Debarker is designed for mills that process moderate quantities of high value
hardwoods and softwoods.
Applications where superior fiber protection, very clean debarking and
a steady and reliable supply of logs into the mill are the keys to increased
profitability.
The A6 combines high reliability, low maintenance, low capital cost,
excellent bark removal and maximum fiber protection.
The A6 is a rugged in-line debarker where the log is not stopped
or taken off-line as in rosserhead systems.
The A6 avoids another major problem of rosserhead
systems, fiber damage.
The smooth action of the A6’s spinning ring removes the bark at the
cambium layer without disturbing wood fiber. This makes the A6 an excellent
investment that will pay for itself very quickly.
Installing or retrofitting is easy thanks to the fixed-height feedworks and
sliding ring design of the A6. The bottom of the log always stays at a
constant height, letting you use simple conveyors or hourglass rolls to feed
the debarker.
Log feeding and debarking is automatic. The operator also has a full array of
preset knife arm pressure over-rides to fine tune the debarking of each
individual log. This is great for situations where you have mixed species,
large diameter ranges and unpredictable log conditions.
When a log enters the A6, the debarking ring slides up or down to center on
the log. Powerful hydraulic cylinders on the log holddown
rolls smoothly and accurately feed each log, even with crooked and frozen
wood.
The fabricated chain feedworks is easy to repair and replace onsite is
offered as the standard infeed configuration. Cast steel chain for extremely
demanding situations is available as an option.
The Nicholson A6 is available in 22, 27, 35
and 44 inch (559, 686, 890 and 1119 mm) ring sizes, and in single or tandem
ring configurations. Short log, extended frame and high lift bypass versions
are also available. You can even get a tandem ring A6 with the patented
Nicholson Stringy Bark Slitter Ring for problem species like Redwood, Cedar
and Eucalypt.
Proven
Nicholson Air Seal and Air Cell rings are both available on the A6.
Variable pressure Air Seal rings let you adjust debarking pressure, or open
and close the knife arms, during debarking. These are the exact same
rings used on Nicholson’s advanced highspeed
A7 debarkers.
Fixed
pressure Air Cell rings are a simple design that excels in handling material
of consistent size and condition.
Pressure for all air cells can be adjusted at any of six standard air
fittings while the ring is stopped.
A hydraulic power unit, automatic ring centering, pre-plumbed air and
electrical circuits are all standard on the A6.
The A6 is a tough and simple design. It is also a design that can grow as
your needs change. You can put a 27 inch ring in a 35 inch frame. We
also offer options like a PLC, Ultrasonic Ring Centering and Analog
Proportional Knife Arm Pressure Control for enhanced small / large log
debarking.
Profitably debarking high value logs requires special tools. The Nicholson A6
is a tough and heavily built economical debarker designed just for your
unique application.
